Clinical Psychologist
Fran Shawyer has been a registered Clinical Psychologist and full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) since completing her post-graduate training in Clinical Psychology at La Trobe University in 1993. She is also a full member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists, the Australian Association for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. She completed a PhD in Psychology in 2000. Fran has worked as a psychologist since 1996 in a variety of settings including public mental health, clinical research and private practice. She has a special interest in the application of acceptance-based therapies to mental health conditions and published a number of book chapters and journal articles related to this area. Fran has worked with a range of presenting problems including depression, anxiety, work stress, low self-worth, chronic pain, psychosis, grief and loss and adjustment issues. She utilises Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Schema Therapy.
